Seljuk's Mediterranean Gate, Conquest of Alanya, 805 Years Old

Alanya, which joined the Turkish lands with the expedition of Anatolian Seljuk Ruler Alaaddin Keykubad I in 1221, proudly celebrates the 805th anniversary of its conquest. The city, one of the strategic defense and trade centers of the Mediterranean, continues to bear the traces of the Seljuk civilization with its historical and cultural heritage.

Seljuk's Winter Capital

After the conquest, the city, named "Alaiyye" by Alaaddin Keykubad, became the winter capital of the Anatolian Seljuk State and an important naval base. Alanya Castle, Kızılkule and the historical shipyard, which are among the most magnificent examples of military architecture of the period, carry the 805-year-old Seljuk heritage to the present day.

Historical and Cultural Heritage is Kept Alive

The construction activities that started in the region after Alanya came under Turkish sovereignty strengthened the city's commercial and military position in the Mediterranean. On the occasion of the 805th anniversary of the conquest, the importance of preserving the city's historical identity, cultural heritage and architectural works from the Seljuk period and transferring them to future generations is once again emphasized.
