Volunteers Brought Life to the Alanya Sea
In the cleaning campaign carried out with the participation of volunteers in Alanya waters, historic steps were taken to protect and revitalize the marine ecosystem.
The 11th "The Deep Sea Is Clean" event, organized to protect the marine ecosystem, which is the greatest value of the Alanya region, which is the capital of tourism, was held. In the event organized in cooperation with Alanya Municipality and Alanya Rotary Club, the coasts of the district were meticulously cleaned on land and underwater. The organization, which was held with the participation of environmental volunteers, divers, athletes and non-governmental organizations, is a critical intervention for the future of regional tourism and marine creatures. It is emphasized that this move, aimed at preventing the degradation of the natural life cycle, directly contributes to the sustainable tourism goals of the region.
Scientific Data Scanning was Conducted on the Coasts
In addition to the physical cleaning of the Galip Dere Beach leg of the event, the MLW (Marine Litter Monitoring Programme) implemented by the European Environment Agency within the scope of combating marine litter was successfully implemented. Thanks to the pilot application carried out by TÜRÇEV in Türkiye, the waste collected from the shore was classified according to its types and transferred to the international data system. The severe damage caused by human-induced waste to marine flora and fauna has been documented internationally.
Microorganism Support Provided to the Marine Ecosystem
A game-changing application was implemented in the dredging works carried out simultaneously in the historical Red Tower and Tersane region. Bokashi balls, consisting of beneficial microorganisms, were released into the sea water to biologically clean it and support the ecosystem. With this intervention, it is planned to reduce the population of harmful bacteria and increase water quality naturally.
Advisor to the Mayor of Alanya Municipality Nazmi Zavlak, SKUT President Mustafa Bilyaz and his management, Rotary Club President Kemal Gökkuş, Mavi Bayraklı facility personnel and the municipality's triathlon team athletes attended. Volunteers stated that cleaning efforts alone are not enough and that keeping the sea alive and protecting it is an obligation that must continue every day of the year.
