Foundation Tradition Touched Little Hearts

39 children were circumcised at the mass circumcision festival organized by Antalya Regional Directorate of Foundations, under the coordination of the General Directorate of Foundations of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The event was held at Antalya Teacher's House. Governor Hulusi Şahin and his wife Ebru Şahin, Kepez District Governor Suat Dervişoğlu, Provincial Police Chief Dr. Sabit Akın Zaimoğlu, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Major General Ahmet Kavukcu, Antalya Regional Director of Foundations Nurullah Pervaneli, Provincial Mufti Aydın Yığman, institution directors, families and children attended.

Historical Foundation Culture is Kept Alive

Speaking at the program, Governor Şahin stated that foundation culture has a vital importance in Turkish civilization. Şahin said, "We cannot be proud enough to be the grandchildren of such ancestors. Our foundation deeds are so old that the first official document of the Ottoman Empire is a foundation deed from the Orhan Gazi period. We even have foundation deeds dating back to the Seljuk period in Anatolia, which go back even further than the Ottoman Empire. These foundation deeds include soup kitchens, "We have foundation deeds ranging from hospitals to stork hospitals to children's circumcision ceremonies, none of which are younger than 500 years old," he said.

The legacy of our ancestors must be meticulously protected

Governor Şahin stated that it is possible to come across a foundation work in every corner of Anatolia, and reminded that the past generations donated their assets to serve the society, rather than leaving them as personal inheritance to their children. Pointing out that Antalya is also an important foundation city, Şahin emphasized that it is the greatest responsibility to do justice to the legacy of our ancestors and to fulfill the charities mentioned in the foundation deeds. After the speeches, Governor Şahin and his wife presented gifts to the circumcised children and a group photo was taken.
