100 Historical Artifacts Returned from the USA Are Exhibited in Istanbul
100 historical artifacts returned from museums and collections in the USA were introduced at Istanbul Archeology Museums with the participation of Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Ersoy.
As part of Turkey's international fight against historical artifact smuggling, 100 cultural assets in museums and collections in the USA were returned to the country. The returned artifacts were introduced to the public at a ceremony held at the Istanbul Archaeological Museums.
At the ceremony, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Ersoy, in addition to exhibiting the works, also opened the "No Escape: Boubon" exhibition. Archival documents, scientific analyzes and international forensic cooperation were effective in the process of bringing back artifacts that were taken abroad in the past from important centers such as Horoztepe, Düver, Aphrodisias and Boubon.
It was reported that the work carried out to protect the historical heritage of Anatolia and to return the stolen values to its lands will continue with determination. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism emphasized that the legal and scientific processes carried out for the return of cultural assets smuggled abroad in the past will be continued uninterruptedly.
