Karaköy People Embrace the Traditional Festival with Enthusiasm
The festival, organized in cooperation with Bin Families One Family Association and the headman's office, builds a cultural bridge from the past to the future.
Karaköy District hosts a historical and cultural meeting with the Keykubad Culture and Folk Festivals, which are held for the twelfth time this year. The event, jointly organized by Bin Families One Family Association and Karaköy Mukhtar, will be held on 22 and 23 August 2026. The festival will start with sacrifices and prayers, and continue with forgotten ancestor dances and concerts.
Traditions Are Passed on to Future Generations
The first day of the two-day festival was devoted to keeping spiritual values alive. After the festive sacrifice, Mevlid-i Şerif will be read and the mass grave will be visited. In the evening, traditional treats will be served accompanied by tea brewed over a wood fire. In addition, in order to support the education of local children, ideas will be exchanged with university students and stationery aid will be provided to primary school students.
Fierce Competitions and Music Feast
The second day of the festival will witness the excitement of old village games and traditional competitions. Prizes such as gold and cash will be given to the winners of colorful events such as grinding barley in Dibek, turning kirmen, rolling dough and ansır run. Following the local cooking competition and pole climbing events where women will showcase their skills, participants will experience an unforgettable weekend with Turkish Folk Music concerts.
