Breaths Held in İbradı for Ata Spor's Kökbörü

Kokbörü League 2026 Semi-Final Competitions, organized with the aim of keeping traditional sports branches alive and passing them on to future generations, were completed in İbradı with the intense participation of sports fans. Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin, MPs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Tuğba Vural Çokal, Mustafa Köse, World Ethnosport Confederation Chairman Necmettin Bilal Erdoğan and many guests attended the organization held within the scope of the Turkish Traditional Wrestling and Equestrian Sports Federation (TGASDF).

Emphasis on National Unity and Cultural Heritage

Speaking at the program, Governor Şahin stated that it is vital to preserve the spirit of national unity and solidarity. Stating that the cultural heritage should be transferred to future generations, Şahin referred to the understanding of unity in the Orhun Monuments and drew attention to the power received from the past with Yahya Kemal Beyatlı's saying "We are the horse whose roots are in the past." Reminding that the Turkish nation has stood by justice and the oppressed throughout history, Şahin emphasized that traditional sports are one of the most basic elements that keep cultural memory alive.

Traditional Sports Strengthen Identity

World Ethnosport Confederation President Erdoğan said that Kökbörü is a deep-rooted sport of Central Asian origin and noted that the organization brings together elements of Turkish culture from different geographies. Pointing out that culture is transmitted through sports, music and daily life, Erdoğan stated that the javelin sport in Anatolia was introduced to Central Asia, and Kökbörü was popularized in Turkey and cultural ties were reinforced.
