Alanya Youth Proudly Carried the Torch of Independence
The people of Alanya brought their May 19 enthusiasm to its peak with a torchlight cortege march and a magnificent rap concert held afterwards.
19 May Atatürk Commemoration of Youth and Sports Day was celebrated with widely attended events in Alanya. The evening program, organized in cooperation with Alanya District Governorate, Alanya Municipality and Alanya City Council, started with a torchlight procession. Alanya Deputy Mayor Murat Levent Koçak, City Council President Nurhan Özcan, protocol members and thousands of citizens attended the march.
The Cortege March Brightened the Night
In the march, which started with the delivery of the torches lit by the Protocol members to the young people, thousands of people walked accompanied by Turkish flags and anthems. The cortege continued via Atatürk Street and İskele Street and ended behind the old municipality building. Speaking before the concert, President Özcan stated that May 19 represents the resurrection of a nation and said, "It is the day of the faith of the great leader who went to Samsun and spread to Anatolia. Emphasizing that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk placed his hope on the youth, Özcan stated that the light of the Republic will not fade away as long as the youth exists.
President's Message and Rap Enthusiasm
Conveying the greetings of Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik to the participants, Deputy Mayor Koçak congratulated the young people on their holiday and stated that the trust is in safe hands. Famous rap artist Ceza, who took the stage after the opening speeches, gave an unforgettable night to the thousands of people who filled the area.
