Climate Resilience is on the Table for Alanya

An important step was taken in the light of common sense and scientific data in order to make the city of Alanya more resilient to climate change. The opening meeting and workshop of the "P2R Resilient Alanya: Mediterranean Model for Tourism, Societies and Climate Adaptation" project, carried out in partnership with Alanya Municipality, Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ) and Atalay Climate Plan Environmental Consultancy, was held.

Public institutions, university representatives, professional organizations, private sector, non-governmental organizations and neighborhood headmen participated widely in the workshop. At the meeting, the city's climate risks, fragile areas and adaptation needs were evaluated with a holistic approach.

Threats and Solution Suggestions were Discussed

Within the scope of the workshop, the effects of extreme temperatures, forest fires, drought, water stress, floods, coastal erosion and climate change on regional tourism were discussed in detail. The participants put forward their solution proposals for the future of the city with common sense.

Strategy and Action Plan Will Be Prepared

At the end of the project process, which combines scientific data with local knowledge and experience, the city's Climate Resilience Strategy, Action Plan and Investment Plan will be prepared and implemented.
