Alanya District Governorate, Alanya Municipality and District Directorate of National Education, in cooperation with the District National Education Directorate, held a Hıdırellez celebration in the garden of the Sandık Emini Kayhanlar Evi located in the historical Alanya Castle. Resident foreigners and students living in the city showed great interest in the event.

Yörük Culture Carried to the Future with Games

Within the scope of the program, Şehit Coşkun Nazilli Primary School 3rd grade students performed traditional games called "Folluk Fos" and "Flying Koçan", which are an important part of the Yoruk culture. The performance of the children was followed with interest by the audience. To keep centuries-old traditions alive, participants tied fabric to the wishing tree and made their wishes for the new season.

Intercultural Spring Bridge was Established

The egg painting workshop, in which Lithuanian, Ukrainian and German citizens also participated, enabled different cultures to meet on a common ground. The importance of cultural heritage was emphasized with the "Old Hıdırellezler" talk given to children by history teacher Sedat Çolak.

Alanya Deputy Mayor Murat Levent Koçak shared the excitement by accompanying the children's games. Stating that Hıdırellez is a symbol of unity, sharing and abundance, Vice President Koçak stated that keeping traditions alive with children is of great importance for the future. Thanks to the event, children had the opportunity to have fun and get to know cultural values on site.
