Dirty Hands Reaching for the Education Budget Broken

Antalya Provincial Security Directorate Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Directorate teams launched a large-scale operation against a network that uses public resources for its personal interests. In the investigation carried out under the coordination of the Demre Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a large-scale corruption chain led by vocational high school principal M.Ş. was unearthed. As a result of the investigations, it was documented that the suspects caused a total loss of 52 million 344 thousand 670 TL to the public.

Major Corruption in Public Resources Detected

In the technical and financial examinations, it was understood that the principal M.Ş. and his accomplices deducted teachers' salaries without consent, pretended to work retired teachers, and embezzled state support through fictitious intern records. Especially within the scope of the Mastery Compensation Program, it was seen that more than 51 million liras were illegally transferred to the accounts through fake businesses and student records. These serious irregularities in the education center were confirmed by inspector reports and security analysis.

Simultaneous Raids in Five Provinces

45 suspects were detained in simultaneous raids carried out in 5 different provinces based in Antalya. While judicial control orders were issued for 26 of the suspects referred to the judicial authorities, 18 people, including the school principal, were arrested and sent to prison. Antalya Provincial Security Directorate stated that the fight against such crimes that hurt the public conscience will continue with determination.
