Illegal Crayfish Operation by Bus Terminal Police

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Police Department teams caught the illegal seafood shipment red-handed during routine checks at the intercity bus terminal. 90 kilograms of live freshwater crayfish, which were under the legal hunting limit and were sent to Alanya in the trunk of a passenger bus from Kırşehir, were seized as a result of careful monitoring by the police.

Destroyed Under Veterinary Control

It was determined that most of the aquatic products that were transported without a transportation document, contrary to the rules of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, perished during transportation due to non-compliance with the protective cold chain ring. The products, which were taken to the terminal police station, were confiscated for destruction on the grounds that they posed a threat to public health, following detailed examinations by the veterinarians on duty.

Fine for Bus Company

Administrative action has been taken against the bus company, which both harms biodiversity and violates transportation rules by shipping seafood products contrary to the legislation. While the police teams stated that the inspections throughout the terminal will continue determinedly in order to prevent the trade of products caught below the legal size limit, a heavy fine was imposed on the relevant company for carrying unprotected cargo and undocumented products.
