Pirate Transportation Heavily Invoiced in Alanya

On the evening of May 12, 2026, under the coordination of the Alanya Chamber of Drivers and gendarmerie traffic teams, large-scale inspections were launched against illegal passenger transportation in the Mahmutlar and Kestel neighborhoods. Drivers who threaten the income of local taxi drivers by carrying unregistered passengers through applications such as Martı TAG were caught on the radar of the gendarmerie.

Heavy Sanctions for Drivers and Passengers

During the traffic practices, an administrative fine of 100 thousand Turkish Liras was imposed on each driver who was found to be engaged in pirated transportation. In order to increase deterrence, vehicles were banned from traffic for 60 days, while drivers' licenses were confiscated for 30 days. Passengers who preferred the illegal system in question were also unable to escape inspections; Passengers using pirate taxis were fined 3 thousand 870 Turkish Liras per person.

President Akkaya: "Our Inspections Will Continue Without Compromise"

Alanya President of the Chamber of Drivers Ali Akkaya, in his statement after the operation, stated that they are determined to protect the rights of the driver tradesmen who pay taxes on legal grounds. Mayor Akkaya thanked the gendarmerie teams who carried out field inspections and the chamber managers who followed the process. Underlining the damage caused by pirate transportation to the local economy and traffic safety of Alanya, the authorities emphasized that the operations will continue uninterrupted until these activities come to an end within the district borders.
