Energy Shield for Forests from the Ministry and the Governorship

A critical coordination meeting was held at the Antalya Governorship Government House to prevent forest fires that may arise from power lines before the summer season. Within the scope of the "Forest Fire Prevention Measures Meeting in Terms of Antalya Province Power Lines" held with the participation of Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Nevzat Şatıroğlu, the current status of energy transmission lines and technical improvements were discussed.

Power Lines Under Scrutiny

At the meeting, it was aimed to increase the maintenance of energy transmission lines passing through forest areas, transformer controls and coordination between energy distribution companies and regional directorates of forestry. Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Şatıroğlu stated that similar studies are carried out in the provinces of Mersin, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Bursa, İzmir and Manisa in order to eliminate possible risks.

Critical City Emphasis

Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin pointed out that 57 percent of the city is covered with forests and reminded the painful experiences of the Manavgat fire in the past. Stating that measures originating from power lines are vital in order to prevent the recurrence of major fires that also affect the borders of the Alanya, Governor Şahin emphasized that coordination will increase the power in the field. The meeting was also attended by Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Cansel Çevikol Tuncer, Antalya Regional Director of Forestry Kemal Kayıran, AFAD Provincial Director Necmi Erçin, TEDAŞ General Manager Ömer Sami Yapıcı and AEDAŞ General Manager İlkay Baydar.
