Gazipaşa Youth Rekindled the Fire of Independence

Gazipaşa district, 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day was celebrated with intense participation of the public. The events organized by Gazipaşa Municipality started with a traditional torchlight procession. In the evening, citizens gathered in front of Ahmet Tuncer Primary School and walked to Selinus Beach with flags and torches in their hands. The surrounding citizens also supported the cortege, which proceeded to the accompaniment of anthems, with applause from their homes.

Health and Unity Message from President Yılmaz

After the moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, Gazipaşa Mayor Mehmet Ali Yılmaz went up to the podium and addressed the public. Stating that he left behind his health problems that lasted for about a year and a half, Mayor Yılmaz expressed his happiness at being together with the citizens again. Emphasizing that May 19 is not just a date, Yılmaz celebrated the holiday of young people by saying, "We feel the torch of independence lit by the veteran Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades in Samsun in our hearts here today."

Musical Feast with Aksaç Folk Songs

After the protocol speeches, Oğuz Aksaç, one of the master names of Turkish folk music, took the stage. Citizens of all ages who filled the area accompanied the artist, who sang popular folk songs with his original interpretation. Coming back on stage at the end of the night, Mayor Yılmaz thanked the artist for the musical feast and enthusiasm he brought to the district and presented flowers.
