The National Debt is Not Paid, Martyrs and Veterans Are Not Forgotten

On the occasion of the anniversary of the granting of the title of veteran and the rank of marshal to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk by the Turkish Grand National Assembly, official commemoration ceremonies and various events were held in Antalya. Within the scope of the program, which started with the wreath laying ceremony in Republic Square; Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Bayram Ali Çeltik, Garrison Commander Major General Yusuf Diker, combat veterans and martyrs' relatives laid a wreath at the Atatürk Monument. After the moment of silence and the National Anthem, Retired Colonel Zeynel Abidin Sezer, President of the Antalya Branch of the Turkish Combat Veterans Association, made a speech about the importance of the day.

After the ceremony, Governor Şahin visited the Antalya Branch of the Turkish Combat Veterans Association and the members of the Turkish War Disabled Veterans, Martyrs, Widows and Orphans Association. Within the framework of religious programs, Quran recitation and Mevlid-i Şerif were read at Muratpaşa Mosque and lokma was served.

The Battle of Sakarya and Historical Awareness

Speaking at the dinner held in honor of veterans and their families, Governor Şahin, II. He reminded that the withdrawal that had been continuing since the Siege of Vienna was stopped with the Battle of Sakarya. Stating that the army recovered in a short time and put up a great fight, Şahin emphasized that the nation will continue to walk determinedly towards the future in unity and solidarity.

Protocol Meeting with Broad Participation

Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor Fatih Kocaman, Akdeniz University Rector Prof. attended the commemoration programs. Dr. Özlenen Özkan, Provincial Police Chief Dr. Sabit Akın Zaimoğlu, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Major General Hüseyin Bekmez, TRNC Consul General Aslı Erkmen, civil administration chiefs and representatives of non-governmental organizations attended.
