They United to Breathe the Future
At the event held within the scope of World Cleanup Day in the city center of Alanya, institutions and environmental volunteers worked shoulder to shoulder to clean the coast and sea.
Within the framework of World Cleanup Day events, a coastal and sea cleaning organization was organized under the leadership of Alanya Municipality and Alanya City Council. The study, carried out with the participation of Mediterranean Environmental Platform, Stand Up Paddle (SUP) board businesses, Blue Flag tourism facilities and many environmental volunteers, was held at Cold Door Beach in front of Red Tower.
The program was supported by Alanya City Council President Nurhan Özcan, Alanya Deputy Mayor Haydar Uyar, unit chiefs and citizens.
Response to Sea Surface and Microplastic Pollution
As part of the field work, teams on SUP boards collected the waste on the sea surface one by one. During the event, practical awareness presentations were also held, drawing attention to microplastic pollution in the seas and allowing participants to directly observe the extent of pollution.
Emphasis on Natural Heritage for Future Generations
The message that a clean city starts not only from the streets but also from the sea and shores was highlighted. It was noted that in the organization carried out with the aim of increasing nature awareness and transferring the environmental values of the city to future generations, stakeholder institutions will continue their common struggle to protect the environment.
