Alanya Nature ALKÜ Will Breathe with Green Energy

Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ) has achieved a historical first in Turkey by providing all of its electricity consumption from green energy sources. The educational institution, which received the International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) through CK Enerji Akdeniz Elektrik, took a giant step towards protecting the natural texture of the Alanya region by zeroing its carbon emissions.

Tangible Contribution to Alanya Nature

The certificate data revealed that 634,479 kWh of electricity consumed within the ALKÜ in the first two months of 2026 was met entirely from green energy. Thanks to this move, 272.8 tons of carbon emissions were prevented and a contribution equivalent to planting 12,300 adult trees was made to nature. This environmental benefit, which means the withdrawal of 58 cars from traffic for a year, especially in the city center of Alanya, which is the capital of tourism, was recorded as a great achievement in terms of improving the air quality of the region and protecting the ecological balance. Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan, CK Enerji Akdeniz Elektrik General Manager Fahrettin Tunç, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kılıç, Prof. Dr. Atıf Bayramoğlu and Prof. Dr. Işık Bayraktar attended the certificate presentation ceremony held in Alanya. Speaking at the ceremony, Rector Türkdoğan said, "As a university, we aim to be a pioneer not only with academic achievements but also with our environmental responsibilities. Reducing our carbon footprint by turning to renewable energy and taking concrete steps for a sustainable future are among our priorities."
