Tourism Professional's Cry for Finance Echoed in the Capital

Speaking at the meeting, ALTSO President Erdem emphasized that tourism businesses, especially those that provide foreign currency income, are going through a serious wear and tear process due to high inflation, increasing costs and obstacles to accessing credit.

"Bankruptcies Are Coming, There Will Be Heavy Prices"

Erdem stated that if the bottleneck in the sector continues, there will be serious economic losses on a regional and national scale. He stated that if the process is prolonged, tourism businesses in and around Alanya will stop their activities, lock their doors and go bankrupt. Pointing out that tourism is the service export sector that brings the most foreign currency to the country, Erdem said that a possible collapse will cause heavy costs to employment, the regional economy and the Turkish economy.

Request for Solution to Foreign Exchange Loan Restrictions

Erdem stated that directing businesses whose income is in foreign currency to only Turkish Lira loans increases the exchange rate risk and disrupts financial structures, and stated that the restrictions imposed by banks on foreign currency loans should be removed. Erdem said that financing opportunities should be shaped according to the income model of the tourism operator; The service exporter demanded that the tourism sector be exempt from foreign currency loan restrictions, that the appraisal limits be updated, and that the processes be accelerated by reducing reporting costs. Reminding that Antalya and Alanya regions are the locomotive of Turkish tourism, Erdem added that keeping the sector strong will be a common gain for everyone, from tradesmen to producers.
