Disaster Was the Only Agenda on the Table at the AFAD Summit in Alanya

A critical disaster coordination meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Mehmet Cangir with the broad participation of Antalya provincial protocol and institution officials. At the meeting where strategic decisions were taken in order to make the city disaster-resistant, the importance of inter-institutional cooperation was emphasized.

The Provincial Disaster Coordination Meeting held within the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate was led by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Cangir. At the meeting, Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin and Provincial Police Chief Dr. Sabit Akın Zaimoğlu, the provincial protocol and all relevant institution officials were fully present. During the meeting, possible disaster scenarios were emphasized and institutional preparations and logistic capacities were discussed in detail.

Coordination Power is Increasing

In the meetings where the participants plan the steps to be taken before, during and after the disaster, it is aimed to accelerate the reflexes of local governments and law enforcement forces in case of disaster. In line with the strategies that envisage updating disaster risk reduction plans, it was decided to closely monitor all preparation processes of Alanya and surrounding districts. Institution officials stated that operational power will be maximized to minimize loss of life and property in possible emergency situations.
