Erdem Met with Members of the Press

Current President Eray Erdem, who is a candidate again for the presidency at the elective ordinary general assembly of the Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ALTSO) to be held on October 10, met with members of the press operating in Alanya. Speaking at the event attended by many journalists, Erdem said, "Our responsibility in Alanya is extremely high. Because Alanya has an added value that surpasses 52 provinces. It is a city where new companies are opened frequently. It is not easy to continue this duty in this city by observing the balance without hurting anyone. I would like to thank everyone who served as president here before me for their efforts." he said.
“THERE WILL DEFINITELY BE CRITICISM”
Mayor Erdem continued his speech by evaluating the past 4 years of office and said, "There will definitely be criticism. It is not a job that anyone can do to please 100 percent of the society all the time. If we think of a car in the garage as a car that is constantly on the road, the car that is constantly on the road will have minor accidents from time to time. We have started a new election. With any luck, Alanya will reflect the public appreciation at the ballot box on October 10. We will try to serve Alanya with the same excitement and the same perspective. “A RAISE WAS NOT A PREFERENCE, IT WAS AN OBLIGATION”
Making a statement about the increase in room dues in the 4-year period, President Erdem stated that the fee increase was not a choice but an obligation and said, "Immediately after taking office 4 years ago, there was a great devastation such as the February 6 earthquake. Along with this, the inflation problem arose. When we took office, the salaries of ALTSO staff were in a good condition compared to many institutions. However, after the sudden inflation, the salaries remained at a low level and when our staff reported the situation to us, it turned out that the salaries would be below the minimum wage. Legally, "Since personnel expenses cannot exceed 40 percent of the chamber budget, we had to increase the room dues. According to the legal regulations, the increase can be made by a minimum of 10 percent and a maximum of 50 percent. Our highest room fee was around 4,750 TL per year. When we took office, fuel was 90 lira, so the fee increase was not a choice but an obligation." He spoke as follows. ,
“I DO NOT USE THE ROOM FACILITIES”
Asked whether he used his official vehicle during the election process, Mayor Erdem said, "I already left my official vehicle last week. I continue my work with my own vehicle and means. Otherwise, it would prevent a fair race." he said.
“THERE IS 240 MILLION TL IN THE SAFE”
ALTSO President Eray Erdem, who was also asked about the budget difference between the period when he took office and the current period, said, "I do not want to criticize the past periods, but each person who takes office is compared with the previous period. This is the nature of this business. When we took office, there was 6.5 million TL in the safe. 5 million TL of this figure consisted of the dues collected during the election process. So normally there was 1.5 million TL in the safe. Now our chamber has around 240 million TL." he said. Erdem stated that the work on the new ALTSO building has been completed and the foundation will be laid after the election.
