The tradition of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day in Alanya Municipality was experienced with enthusiasm this year as well. Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik handed over his office to Karsu Çatal, a 7th grade student at Şükrü Mülazımoğlu Secondary School. School principal Murat Ergün Gözütok and student Aylin Küçük also took part in the visit. This meaningful handover, which transfers Alanya's local government awareness to younger generations, contributes significantly to the development of the city with a child-friendly vision.
A Strong Message Against Violence in Schools
Representative President Çatal made striking statements on the safety of children and educational environments after he took the seat. Emphasizing that schools should be homes of love, knowledge and friendship, Çatal stated that they expect adults to build a safer future so that children go to school with hope. Reminding that students are not only a part of the future but also a part of the present, Çatal gratefully commemorated Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades in arms who gifted this meaningful day.
The First Instruction Was School Painting
President Özçelik stated that they continue to work for children to lead a peaceful education life and announced that he fully supports Çatal's messages. After the handover, Çatal met with Deputy Mayors Murat Levent Koçak and Hasan Can Kambuoğlu and instructed that the exterior of the school where he studied should be painted during the summer vacation. Vice President Koçak in charge of the Directorate of Science Affairs confirmed that the necessary work will be done. The program ended with the presentation of gifts to the students in memory of the day.
