Pride in the Blue Homeland Overflowed to the Streets of Alanya

Alanya district witnessed great excitement and colorful images throughout the city. The night swimming event, which was held for the third time this year within the scope of the breathtaking program of traditional competitions, offered a visual feast to the participants and spectators.

The official ceremony was held in front of the Red Tower

The celebration program started with the presentation of a wreath to the Atatürk Monument located in front of the historical Red Tower. Following the moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, Harbor Master Mehmet Sayhan laid a wreath on the monument and made a speech about the meaning and importance of the day. The official ceremony was attended by Gazipaşa District Governor and Alanya Deputy District Governor Hasan Uğuz, Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik, Port Mayor Sayhan and protocol members participated. After the official ceremony, the protocol delegation examined the painting exhibition titled "Alanya Castle Ship Graffiti - Maritime Heritage Embroidered on the Walls" prepared by the Directorate of Culture and Social Affairs of Alanya Municipality. After the inspections, the delegation set out to sea on a Coast Guard Command boat and laid a wreath in the waters in memory of the martyrs.

Pier Square Became the Stage of Competition Excitement

The part of the celebrations that continued in İskele Square attracted great interest from local and foreign tourists as well as local people. Swimming, tug of war, plate throwing and greasy pole competitions were followed with great excitement. In the swimming races, Ata Gani Birben, Eylül Uysal and Barış Dalgıç came first in different categories. Furkan Yılmaz, who showed acrobatic movements in the sky with his flyboard show, rose from the sea and presented the Turkish flag to the protocol members. In the most awaited traditional oil pole competition of the day, Hasancan Erdem, who reached the flag among 62 competitors, became this year's champion. The award was presented to Erdem by District Governor Uğuz and Mayor Özçelik. In the evening, a night swimming event was held on the illuminated track at Soğukkapı Beach under the historical Kızılkule, with the participation of the Mayor's Advisor Abdurrahman Açıkalın and many citizens.
