Alanya Signed Another First in Health

Alanya Training and Research Hospital has achieved a significant success with the advanced surgical method applied for the first time. The patient named Sevim Tiryaki, who applied with complaints of difficulty in swallowing and feeling of choking while eating, was diagnosed with esophagus cancer as a result of the examinations.

Vital Intervention from the Faculty of Medicine Staff

In the process carried out by ALKÜ Faculty of Medicine, Department of Thoracic Surgery Academician Keskin and his expert medical team, chemoradiotherapy treatment was first applied to the patient. After the tumor was reduced, the operation was started using closed surgery (laparoscopic and videothoracoscopic) methods, which can be performed in a limited number of centers in Türkiye. The cancerous esophagus was removed and a new esophagus was created from the patient's stomach.

Fast Healing Process with Closed Method

Tiryaki, who regained his health after the surgical operation, stated that they accomplished the difficult task and thanked all healthcare professionals and his physician. It was reported that thanks to this major surgery performed with a closed method, the healing process of the patients was accelerated and the risks of complications were minimized.
