Coşkun stated that local journalists are struggling with both economic problems and problems related to professional rights, stated that keeping the press strong is important for democracy and said that the sector wants a Press Professional Law.

The Fourth Estate of Democracy

Speaking during his visit to AGC, İYİ Party Deputy Chairman Dr. Cenk Özatıcı also stated that TBMM is the place where the will of the nation is manifested and argued that the control mechanisms have been weakened in the current system. Stating that the press is the fourth power in democracies, along with the legislature, executive and judiciary, Özatıcı criticized the Presidential Government System. Summary, "Turkish Grand National Assembly is actually the place where the will of the Turkish nation is manifested. Unfortunately, since it is left as an area under the responsibility of the political power, there is no supervision. Then we need the fourth power. That is, the legislature, executive and judiciary are three powers. The fourth is the press. But of course, this Presidential Government System is not only the control of the executive power, that is, the government, but also our observation and control. "It revealed the issue of controlling all four powers with the reality we live in," he said.

The Last Bastion of Press Freedom

Arguing that there is a polarization and propaganda order in the national media, Özatıcı said that local media is a more autonomous area. Stating that local newspapers stand at an important point in terms of press freedom, Özatıcı said, "In the national media, we can observe this polarization and separation; how the government creates a partisan capital group through public tenders and feeds the pro-government media through this capital and turns them into a propaganda machine. For this reason, we are forced to turn our hopes to local media as more citizens. Because local media has a more autonomous area. Local newspapers are now perhaps the freedom of the press in Turkish democracy." "It is the last castle in terms of Arguing that the local press is being tried to be neutralized through political pressures and alternative structures, Özatıcı said, "If the desired result is not achieved, they want to leave this place under the influence of a political field by creating alternative structures, preparing the ground for some works that will cast a shadow on the honor of the profession and the importance of the profession, and by diluting this work. We are completely against this."
