Alanya Succumbed to Bureaucracy While Waiting for Service

Key Party Alanya District Chairman Abdullah Akkuş issued a press release drawing attention to the negative effects of the Metropolitan Law, which came into force in 2014, on the district. The district chairman stated that the promises of appropriate and fast service made by the then AK Party administrators and the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Menderes Türel were not realized, and stated that the system has turned into a complete pit of bureaucracy under the current CHP administration. It was reported that prolonged processes and dependence on the center caused serious damage to the development and service infrastructure of Alanya, which has a self-sufficient structure.
Broken Work Machines Are Waiting for Approval
Reminding the statements that the work machines that broke down during the enactment of the law would not be dependent on Antalya, Akkuş stated that today, many metropolitan vehicles operating within the borders of Alanya are waiting for parts, maintenance and instructions. It was emphasized that the graders that malfunctioned, especially in the plateau regions, were kept waiting helplessly with their operators, and it was stated that seeking the approval of the center for even a small cable change brought the service flow in the district to a halt. It was noted that this situation increased citizen grievance by preventing immediate intervention to local problems.
Condemned to the District Center
Akkuş argued that the system established by the AK Party government confined the district to the center, and the CHP administration made this cumbersome bigger instead of solving it, and stated that the losers were the local people in any case.
