President Serdaroğlu: The Judiciary Cannot Design Politics

Future Party Alanya District Chairman Yıldız Serdaroğlu recently reacted to the interventions allegedly carried out through the judiciary into the internal functioning of the Republican People's Party (CHP). President Serdaroğlu stated that the determination of the chairmen of political parties is a result of intra-party democratic processes shaped by the will of the nation.

Warning of Judicial Intervention in National Will

Serdaroğlu stated that trying to enforce legislation such as the Law on Associations is incompatible with the universal principles of law, and noted that this situation raises suspicions that they are acting with political calculations. Underlining that political parties are not associations but representation mechanisms of the nation, the district president pointed out that the legitimacy of political leaders is determined at the ballot box, not in the court corridors.

Emphasis on Fair Ground and Strong Democracy

Warning that attempts to design political parties through the judiciary will open a dangerous door that could target all political structures and therefore the national will in the future, Serdaroğlu emphasized that law cannot be a tool to shape politics. Stating that Turkey needs an independent judiciary, a strong democracy and a fair basis for political competition, the official added that they will not accept unlawful intervention against any political opinion.
