Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik, who took office with the 31 March 2024 Local Government General Elections, announced that he resigned from his party membership after being referred to the CHP High Disciplinary Board.

President Özçelik stated that he had no information about the reason for being referred to discipline with a request for definitive expulsion, and stated that he took his decision not out of anger but in line with his conscientious responsibility. Emphasizing that the will of the people of Alanya at the ballot box is a great trust given to him, Özçelik announced that he will continue his duty as mayor independently.

Service Concept Will Not Change

Stating that he wanted to keep the process of leaving his party out of polemics, Özçelik noted that he acted by taking into account the interests of the nation, not personal calculations. Mayor Özçelik emphasized that he will not compromise on his transparent, fair and non-discriminatory understanding of municipalism and announced that he will continue to provide services for the city with determination.
