The spiral of violence in education is on the agenda of the Parliament
Alanya CHP district presidency reacted to the increasing violence and loss of life in schools and argued that education policies were bankrupt.
The violent incidents in Urfa and Kahramanmaraş provinces, which led to the death of a teacher and eight students, opened the structural problems in the education system to discussion. In the statement made by the Alanya CHP district presidency, it was emphasized that the increasing peer bullying and attacks in schools are no longer isolated cases of public order.
Social decay and security problem
In the statement, it was stated that social decay lies at the root of the violence in schools, and it was stated that the attacks should not be considered only as a security weakness. It was pointed out that the cost of living, injustice and discriminatory discourses fueled violence, and it was noted that economic difficulties and anxiety about the future reduced hope in society. The murder of a student's teacher was described as a point where the education system sounded the alarm and existing policies collapsed.
Resignation Call Made to the Ministry
It was suggested that a stronger justice mechanism, economic welfare and the number of psychological counselors and social workers in schools should be increased for a solution. While it was stated that humanity shrinks where violence increases, it was argued that the education policies implemented could not prevent loss of life. Alanya CHP district organizations invited the Minister of National Education, whom they held responsible for the process, to resign from his position.
