Voice of Tourism Workers Became President Kandemir
CHP Alanya District Chairman Bülent Kandemir drew attention to the precarious working conditions of tourism workers on the occasion of May 1.
CHP Alanya District Chairman Bülent Kandemir, in his statement within the scope of May 1 Labor and Solidarity Day, expressed the difficulties faced by those working in tourism cities. Kandemir emphasized the heavy burden of seasonal uncertainties in the sector and the increasing cost of living on the workers.
Seasonal Work Risk in Tourism
It was stated that while thousands of people working in hotels, restaurants, construction sites and agricultural fields work at an intense pace during certain periods of the year, they are pushed into uncertainty during off-season periods. Arguing that the seasonal working order should be supported by adequate social security, Kandemir stated that a system in which labor is not protected is not sustainable.
High Rents Challenge Laborers
It was mentioned that the increase in rent and basic needs prices across Alanya seriously reduced the living standards of employees. Pointing out that while tourism revenues are increasing, the welfare share of employees is not increasing at the same rate, Kandemir noted that local and central administrations should develop policies that make employment secure.
