Alanya Housing and Personnel Outflow in Tourism

Alanya Hotel Housekeeping Training and Decoration Association (HOTED), one of the most important dynamics of the tourism sector, held the 17th Traditional Housekeepers Ball. The event organized under the roof of Doğanay Hotel with the contributions of Diversey company; ALTİD President Cem Özcan, TÜRSAB Alanya Deputy Chairman of the Regional Representation Board Kerim Yılmaz, Alanya City Council President Nurhan Özcan, HOTED Honorary President Hakan Halit Yeni, ALGC President Ferit Kesen, AGC management, Gastronomy Stars Association President Hidayet Kızıları, Ayiy-Der members and many guests attended. Following the opening made by HOTED President Sevgi Topuzel, the structural problems of the sector were discussed.

Education is the Cornerstone of Tourism

Honorary President Yeni, emphasizing that the founding purpose of the association is to provide qualified workforce to the sector, stated that they have implemented more than 170 training seminars and employment projects to date. Stating that they completed the 12th Floor Supervisor course with the support of their solution partners, without any commercial purpose, Yeni pointed out the vital importance of the training for the future of Alanya tourism.

Foreign Workers and Housing Dilemma

It was clearly stated at the event that the biggest threat to the tourism capital Alanya is the lack of qualified personnel and the unsolved housing problem. It was warned that the personnel shortage in the sector cannot be filled only by employing foreign personnel, and that this situation may cause a decrease in orientation and service quality and may harm the district's tourism in the long term. An urgent tourism law was requested, emphasizing that failure to reach the desired level in terms of working hours, housing conditions and social rights locks down employment. ALTİD President Özcan stated that they are aware of these problems in the sector and that they will act jointly for a solution. The night ended after the supporters were given plaques and the graduate trainees received their certificates.
