Alanya Tourism Operators Expect an Urgent Solution from Ankara

The 2026 tourism season in Alanya has officially started with hotels opening their doors and tourist arrivals gaining momentum. However, despite this activity in the field, there are serious financial crises in the tourism sector. Key Party Alanya District Chairman Abdullah Akkuş made an open call to the government regarding payment delays and increasing costs between hotel businesses and travel agencies.

Delayed Payments and Increasing Costs Challenge the Industry

Despite the early booking sales made during the winter period, the delay or suspension of payments by agencies puts hoteliers, who incur large pre-season costs, in a difficult situation. However, many hotels have entered the compulsory renovation and investment process within the scope of the newly enacted fire regulations, which has further increased the financing needs of businesses. The collection problems experienced during this period are increasing the pressure on the sector.

Call to the Government for a Solution to the Heavy Tax Burden

President Akkuş stated that the tourism sector, which provides a large foreign currency inflow to the country's economy, is being crushed under increasing energy, personnel, SSI and other tax items, and emphasized that urgent steps should be taken for the sustainability of the sector. Stating that tourism should be supported like a production factory, Akkuş demanded that the tax burden on hotels be eased, special incentives be provided for the sector, and legal regulations that will prevent payment crises be implemented. Addressing industry stakeholders, Akkuş stated that restoring trust between agencies and hoteliers is of vital importance for the future of Alanya.
