572-Year-Old Treasure Under Alanya
Cihat Yaycı announced at the conference held in ALKÜ that the gas hydrate deposits off the coast of Alanya have the potential to meet Turkey's energy needs for 572 years.
Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ) Under the leadership of the Science Communication Office and with the contributions of Aytemiz, within the scope of the "Aytemiz Stage" events, the architect of the "Blue Homeland" doctrine, Prof. Dr. Cihat Yaycı met with the students. ALKÜ In the program held at Alev Alatlı Conference Hall, Turkey's maritime jurisdiction areas and regional geopolitical developments were discussed. Vice Rectors Prof. attended the program. Dr. Atıf Bayramoğlu, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kılıç, Prof. Dr. Işık Bayraktar and Secretary General Hüseyin Er and many academicians attended.
Emphasis on Alanya in Energy Reserves
Indicating that the world's energy resources are rapidly shifting to the seas, Yaycı drew attention to the strategic importance of the sea area in front of Alanya. Stating that oil and natural gas assets on land have been discovered to a large extent, but exploration in the seas continues, Yaycı emphasized the importance of gas hydrate deposits. Noting that one unit of gas hydrate constitutes 164 units of natural gas, Yaycı stated that the deposits off the coast of Alanya have the capacity to meet Turkey's natural gas needs for 572 years, and that this wealth is wanted to be taken away from Turkey.
Historical Heritage and Strategic Location
Speaking at the opening of the program, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Atıf Bayramoğlu stated that the academy should not remain silent in the face of national issues and that it has the responsibility of developing a strategic vision. Stating that the Alanya Shipyard is a unique heritage in the world in his speech, Yaycı reminded that Alaaddin Keykubat received the title of "Sultanü'l-Bahrain" with this shipyard. Referring to the importance of the local and national defense industry, Yaycı added that projects such as TCG Anadolu and MİLGEM increase Turkey's power at sea. At the end of the event, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Yaycı by Vice Rector Bayramoğlu.
