Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ) and Alanya Municipality have successfully completed the "Environmental Sustainability and SECAP Trainings" program carried out to increase the city's resilience to climate change. Within the scope of the 12-week program, a total of 116 personnel from 12 different technical directorates of the municipality were given comprehensive technical training to strengthen the data-based management infrastructure. ALKÜ, which produces strategic projects for regional development, integrated scientific knowledge into local government mechanisms with this cooperation.

Technical equipment and sustainability move

In the training process carried out by the ALKÜ Energy Management and Sustainability Coordinatorship; vital issues such as global climate policies, the European Union Green Deal, greenhouse gas inventory preparation and climate risk analysis were discussed. In addition to theoretical information, it can be directly applied to municipal services; practical solutions such as water efficiency, waste management, green transportation and building energy performance were emphasized. With these trainings, the technical infrastructure and personnel competence required for the preparation process of Alanya's Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) were provided.

Strategic Partnership on the Way to a Resilient City

Making evaluations after the completion of the trainings, Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik stated that they are planning the future of the city based on data. Emphasizing that they aim to make Alanya more resilient to climate change, Mayor Özçelik thanked ALKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan for his contribution to the process. Rector Türkdoğan drew attention to the importance of scientific knowledge in the field and stated that this model sets an example in terms of increasing local government capacity. With the acceleration of the SECAP process, the city's capacity to access international financing programs is expected to increase.
