Alanya's Waste Found in the Hands of Women
In the upcycling workshop organized by Alanya Municipality, women brought environmental awareness together with art by redesigning their old clothes.
Alanya Municipality Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorate and Women's Policies and Family Support Center organized the "Upcycled Clothing Renewal Workshop" to support sustainable living. At the event held at the Oba Construction Site Waste-Free Life and Transformation Workshop, practical training was given on the recycling of textile waste.
Old Clothes Redesigned with Art
Participants brought their unused or worn-out clothes with them to the workshop taught by artist and environmental activist Zeliha Sunal. In the studies carried out under the guidance of Sunal; Each piece was transformed into unique designs using patching, cutting and various decoration techniques. During the event, it was aimed to reduce the burden of textile waste on the environment.
Zero Waste Awareness and Women's Solidarity
At the event, where participants enjoyed producing together, the importance of the zero waste approach at the individual level was emphasized. The women's unit chiefs of the Municipality Social Assistance Affairs Directorate and citizens attended the workshop, where it was pointed out that small touches can create big environmental changes. It is planned to transfer the experience and information obtained from the workshop to the local people through the units.
