Vaccination Awareness Emphasized at Alanya EAH Pregnancy School

An informational meeting titled "Vaccination During Pregnancy" was held at the Pregnancy School of Alanya Training and Research Hospital in order to draw attention to the importance of vaccination during pregnancy for the health of the mother and baby and to raise awareness about the increasing vaccine hesitancy in the society.

The meeting, which was held with the slogan "Do not neglect your vaccinations for a healthy pregnancy and a healthy future", was moderated by Pregnancy School Responsible Physician, Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialist Op. The Importance of Vaccination During Pregnancy

At the meeting, it was emphasized that vaccination during pregnancy is an important preventive health practice that protects not only the expectant mother but also the baby. Experts stated that changes in the immune system during pregnancy may cause some infections to be more severe, and explained that vaccinations administered at the right time protect the expectant mother, and that protection can also be provided in the newborn period thanks to the antibodies passed from the mother to the baby.

Within the scope of information, information was given about the importance of tetanus, whooping cough (Tdab), influenza and RSV vaccines, their application times and the protection they provide. It was stated that the vaccination decision should be evaluated by the physician in line with the health status of the expectant mother and current national recommendations. It was noted that live vaccines such as measles, rubella, mumps and chickenpox should not be administered during pregnancy.

Dr. Rahşan Eyüp Doğan stated that vaccinations administered at the right time during pregnancy protect the expectant mother against serious infections while also contributing to supporting the health of the baby and said, "Vaccinations administered at the correct time contribute to a safer start for both the mother and the baby. It is of great importance to administer the appropriate vaccines at the right time, in line with the physician's evaluation during pregnancy follow-up." He said.
